Secure Business Communication
The ProSafe™ FVG318 integrates secure WiFi Protected Access (WPA2 Enterprise), SPI/NAT Firewall and IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies in a cost-effective, easy to use solution. The VPN technology ensures communication between head office and home or branch locations remain private with up to 8 simultaneous Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections: All data traffic between business locations is encrypted using DES, 3DES, or 256-bit AES. Network administrators can securely connect multiple computers over the Internet via IPSec tunnelling to connect staff ‘virtually’ to networked office resources, including file servers.
More than just a NAT router, the FVG318 ProSafe™ Wireless Firewall provides a true SPI firewall, protecting you from DoS attacks such as Ping of Death, SYN Flood, Land Attacks, IP Spoofing, tear drop, and many more. Keyword content filtering allows you to control Web access and block unacceptable sites. Logging, reporting, and real-time notification alert you to problems or attacks.
Wireless & Wired Connectivity
The built in 8-port 10/100 Mbps Fast switch enables connection to multiple PCs, and with the addition of other switches, allows up to 253 users on the LAN and up to 64 users on the WLAN to share one broadband Internet connection. The in-built 802.11g wireless access point delivers up to 108 Mbps to WLAN users, with secure WiFi Protected Access (WPA2 Enterprise) to protect wireless communications.
SNMP Management
The FVG318 also supports SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), use it with any SNMP-based management software including NETGEAR’s NMS100 ProSafe™ Network Management Software. SNMP support provides complete remote administration, perfect for remote workers, field sales and support staff and small businesses working across multiple locations.
Easy to Use & Interoperable
NETGEAR’s Smart Wizard™ connects to your ISP quickly, and the easy-to-use Web-based configuration screen and Install Assistant reduce set-up time. The VPN Wizard capability makes setting up secure, remote connections easy. The FVG318 Wireless VPN Firewall is VPNC compliance and compatible with all major VPNC certified devices and standards-based IPSec Client software, including NETGEAR’s ProSafe VPN Client Software. Support for DHCP (client and server) as well as PPPoE allows for easy, widespread deployment, whilst Auto Uplink™ on the LAN ports eliminates the need for crossover cables. Compatible with other SNMP Management applications, and supports Windows®, Macintosh®, UNIX®, and Linux®, or any other TCP/IP based platforms.
